Welsh Carp Championship

This weekend marks the beginning of the Welsh Carp Championships, sponsored by Taska.

The pairs competition, run by Richard Cox and Martin Cronin, will take in five of South Wales’ most prolific carp venues: the Birch syndicate, Lamby Lake, Hendre Lake, White Springs Fishery and Fendrod Lake.

The heats will feature 10 pairs and take place over 48 hours, with the top two pairs from each heat qualifying for the final at Birch on the weekend of 21st-23rd June.

First prize is £1,000, while prizes for the runners-up include a trip to John Lilly’s lake in France, a Birch syndicate ticket worth £350 and a three-day cabin trip to White Springs.

Taska MD, Steve Tasker, is said to be delighted to be involved with the championships at such an early stage. Taska will not only be sponsoring the event but will also be donating a number of prizes.

Report catches

Carp-Talk offers the unique selling point of giving everyday anglers a chance to have their faces featured in the magazine alongside their latest catches. Anglers can send in pictures of their fish, as well as details of how they caught it, and our editorial team will conjure up a brief story to accompany the picture. By sending in catch reports, anglers also have the chance to be entered into weekly/monthly competitions and with it the potential to earn further rewards for their catches. People can send in their catch reports here: www.carptalk-online.co.uk/report-catch
