British champions join Phat Fish

Phat Fish Clothing has announced that this year’s British Carp Angling Championship winners, Rob Tough and Matt Jones, have joined its ever-growing team of top-class consultants.

After the BCAC win, Rob paired up with Lee Jackson and finished runners-up in the World Carp Classic, where all clothing was supplied by Phat Fish. Then Rob recorded a third-place finish in the European Carp Angling Championships with Tom Duncan-Dunlop.

Phat Fish is looking forward to working with two of the best carp match anglers in the business.

Carping4Heroes charity dinner

The work of Carping4Heroes was celebrated in style during a special charity dinner evening, hosted by event founder, Simon Bangert.

The evening, held at the Ballieul Warrant Officer and Sergeant’s Mess in Arborfield, the home of Simon’s former cap badge, the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, included a full silver-service three-course meal in a traditional military format.

The guests included Carp-Talk’s Bev Clifford and Carpworld’s Joe Turnbull, as well as big-name anglers, Adam Penning and Ian Chillcott. The guest of honour was Simon Harmer, a double amputee and Help for Heroes ambassador, who gave an inspiring and humble talk on his experience of losing his legs in Afghanistan and explained how the charity has supported him and his family.

Following the dinner, a raffle and auction were held, which included surprise tutorial donations from Adam and Ian, raising a combined total of £1100. In total, £2310 was raised for Help for Heroes in what proved to be a hugely enjoyable evening, one that is hoped will be a permanent fixture on the calendar.

Simon would like to thank everyone who turned out for the evening and those who donated prizes, including Sandhurst Lake, Sticky, Korda and Atomic Tackle. Thanks also go to Barry Hope for organising the evening and the members of the Ballieul Warrant Officer and Sergeant’s Mess for holding the event.
